Prosciutto e Melone

Prosciutto e Melone is the best appetizer made in summer, fresh, easy and delicious that always wins on the table! Today I'm telling you how to prepare ham and melon without making mistakes and without waste!

First of all it is important to choose the right melon, I prefer Cantaloupe which has the right sweetness and must not be too ripe otherwise it will be cloying. Alternatively you can also use the yellow melon or canary melon with a lighter pulp. As for the choice of raw ham, I recommend using Parma Ham or San Daniele which give the right contrast between sweet and savoury. It is the fresh appetizer par excellence and combined with a good white wine it could be perfect for your aperitifs on the terrace or in the garden! It is served by cutting the melon into slices and wrapping them with the ham but alternatively you can cut the melon into cubes and place them inside a slice of ham closed with a chive blade to make excellent summer baskets. Prepare it and you will see that you will make everyone happy perhaps combined with fresh appetizers such as ITALIAN MOZZARELLA or STUFFED TOMATOES you will see everyone will appreciate!

For this recipe you can use different types of melon, from the white cantaloupe to the orange netted one and for a more impactful scenographic effect, obtain balls from the melon by emptying it completely and fill the emptied part with the melon balls, mozzarella balls, ham roses and a few basil leaves.
