Bucatini with tomato sauce is an Italian classic present on the table of every Sunday lunch.

Pasta with tomato and basil, an easy and always good recipe, a symbolic dish of Italian cuisine, is among the most loved dishes in Italy together with pizza.

A simple recipe that everyone enjoys!

The tomato sauce has many variations, starting from the choice of tomatoes which can be fresh, or you can prepare the sauce with tomato pulp, with peeled tomatoes, puree or a rustic puree, obviously the cooking times change based on to the choice but it certainly doesn't change the goodness of this first course, not to mention the various formats, one above all spaghetti with tomato sauce, I chose bucatini because love how well "holds" the sauce, but you can really decide to prepare long or short pasta with sauce, fresh or semolina pasta, wholewheat or gluten-free, garlic or onion, Parmigiano or Pecorino!

I added fresh ricotta cheese because that's what we do in Sicily! I'm telling you it is something else! You MUST try it!

Description

The most famous Italian recipe, lo spaghetto al pomodoro is made with just a few simple ingredients, tastes delicious, and is easy to make.

Ingredients
  • 1 clove garlic (chopped or sliced)
  • 2 tbsp evoo
  • 12 oz whole peeled tomatoes (Mutti brand, link above)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • fresh basil (to taste and garnish)
  • pasta of choice (bucatini, spaghetti, etc.)
  • fresh ricotta cheese (to taste)
  • Parmigiano Reggiano (to taste)
Instructions
  1. Peel and cut the garlic clove and sautée in a pan with Evoo 

    *careful to not burn it
  2. Add the whole peeled tomatoes and crush them with a wooden spoon. Season with salt and pepper and fresh basil.

     

  3. Cook for about 20 minutes until reduced.

  4. Cook the pasta of choice accordingly, drain and add directly to the pan. Mix well.

  5. Serve with fresh ricotta cheese e Parmigiano Reggiano. Buon appetito! 🤤🍝
