Baked Chicken Drumsticks are a simple and tasty second course, perfect to accompany with the classic potatoes. The recipe can be made with both drumsticks and chicken thighs and the result is always delicious. The secret to making your baked chicken drumsticks delicious is the combination of Marinating – Cooking… you don’t have to be in a hurry! Here’s how.

Baked Chicken Drumsticks

This recipe, not at all obvious, is very easy to make and is a guarantee of success, even for the less experienced cooks.
The chicken drumsticks are marinated with garlic, oil and a mix of fresh aromatic herbs, to taste. For me rosemary is fine but also thyme myrtle, sage, oregano, marjoram and tarragon are also great. The marinade makes the meat very fragrant and cooking in the oven, for the first part in a covered pan, ensures tenderness but also a perfect crust.
Serve the baked chicken legs with a side of crispy pan-fried potatoes or sandy potatoes and seasonal vegetables: a perfect lunch or dinner to enjoy with the family.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. To prepare the chicken drumsticks in the oven, start by removing the feathers from the drumsticks, using tweezers. If any. At this point, flame the thighs with a torch or bring them near the flame of the stove to eliminate any residues; then wash them under running water, dry them and transfer them to a baking dish or bowl, where you will season them with salt, pepper and 30 g of oil.

You can go ahead and add your favorite spices, like paprika, onion, garlic powder. Rub well to incorporate all the flavors.
  2. Keep the drumsticks aside for a moment and peel the potatoes, then cut them into wedges and transfer them to a bowl. Season them as you prefer.

Add a few lemon wedges to enrich the flavor even more.
  3. Add the chicken drumsticks and flavor everything with the sprigs of thyme and rosemary.

  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 450° for the first 20 minutes, then cover with the alluminim foil and cook for additional 25 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking. When they are cooked and well browned, take them out of the oven and serve your chicken drumsticks piping hot!
